BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – On Sunday, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office K-9 “Daisy II” became a mom as she delivered 12 beautiful new bloodhounds to our agency.
As you probably know, our agency has always maintained a tremendous team of Bloodhounds that are trained to search for missing children and seniors.
However, recently we started breeding our own bloodhounds to continue our mission and also to help support other agencies across the country that are in need of these amazing dogs.

Some of these incredible new additions to our K-9 Unit will be trained for search and rescue of missing children or seniors with Alzheimer’s, while others will be trained as “Child Comfort Dogs” and placed into schools in partnership with other agencies throughout the country.
As an added bonus, some of these new crime fighters will also be donated to the “Jimmy Ryce” Foundation that provides Bloodhounds to agencies throughout the country free of charge, so that missing children can be rescued quickly to avoid disaster.

“Daisy II” was bred with one of our great retired agency Bloodhounds, “Big Ben” who enjoys retirement these days living at the Double Eagle Sawmill with our agency partner and my longtime great friend, CW Bailey.
“Daisy II” did great as she became a first time mom delivering 12 new Bloodhound puppies under the watchful eye of Corporal David Lovell and our K-9 Unit who stayed by her side throughout the delivery.

Right now, “Daisy II” and her pups are being cared for by our amazing team of Veterinarians and Vet Team Staff from our Animal Care Center so that they are getting the absolute best care possible.
As Sheriff, and someone who travels each and every day of his life with America’s Top Police Dog Junny, I could not be more excited for “Daisy II,” our newest BCSO family members, and also the thousands of children who will one day be impacted by these amazing crime fighters.
Great Job “Daisy II” and “Big Ben!”
