Cocoa Police Department Promotes New Lieutenant, Sergeant and Detective

Chief Evander Collier IV has promoted a new lieutenant, sergeant and detective and has reorganized other department staff to maximize efficiency and continue to deliver high levels of public safety service to the citizens of Cocoa.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Chief Evander Collier IV has promoted a new lieutenant, sergeant and detective and has reorganized other department staff to maximize efficiency and continue to deliver high levels of public safety service to the citizens of Cocoa.

Effective July 10th, Sgt. Bill Mills is promoted to lieutenant and will be assigned to the patrol division.

Detective Oscar Pimentel is promoted to sergeant and will be assigned to the patrol division.

Officer Amanda Torello is promoted to detective and will serve in the Criminal Investigations Division.

Lt. Mills joined the Cocoa Police Department in September, 1998. He served as a patrol officer, street crimes unit officer, community resource officer, detective, special agent and sergeant. He worked in the FBI’s Safe Street’s Task Force. During his tenure as sergeant, he supervised patrol operations, investigations, and crisis negotiations. He is also a firearms instructor, and managed the department’s Field Training and Evaluation Program for two years.

Sgt. Pimentel joined the Cocoa Police Department in 2009. Since, he has served as a field training officer, crisis negotiator, SWAT officer, K9 officer, master patrol officer, and detective. While serving as a detective, Sgt. Pimentel worked on numerous major crimes which led to successful prosecutions.

Detective Torello joined the Cocoa Police Department in 2015. She served as a patrol officer, school resource officer, community engagement unit officer, crisis negotiator, and traffic homicide investigator.

As part of Chief Collier’s succession planning goals, other staffing changes include Lt. Jeremy Ondo being reassigned from patrol operations to professional compliance and internal affairs.

Sgt. Chris Bradshaw is reassigned from internal affairs to detective sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Division. Sgt. Anthony Colombo is reassigned from patrol to special investigations
