Brevard County Jury Issues Guilty Verdict to James Talbert for Sexual Battery with Deadly Weapon, Kidnapping, Stalking and Battery

James Talbert, 43, faces a minimum sentence of 25 years in state prison

A Brevard County Jury found 43-year-old James Talbert guilty of Sexual Battery with Deadly Weapon, Kidnapping, Aggravated Stalking, False Imprisonment, and Battery, in connection with a complaint filed by a victim to Titusville Police in February of 2022.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Brevard County Jury found 43-year-old James Talbert guilty of Sexual Battery with Deadly Weapon, Kidnapping, Aggravated Stalking, False Imprisonment, and Battery, in connection with a complaint filed by a victim to Titusville Police in February of 2022.

Circuit Judge Tesha Scolaro Ballou presided over the four-day trial with evidence presented by Assistant State Attorneys Rebecca Price and Kerri-Ann McGuire.

Talbert testified that while he had stalked the victim, he denied committing sexual battery or any other offenses.

After approximately five hours of deliberation, the jury returned with the guilty verdicts.

Judge Scolaro Ballou adjudicated Talbert guilty, ordered him held in custody, and set sentencing for January 5, 2024, at 1:30 pm.

Talbert faces a minimum sentence of 25 years in state prison and a maximum of life.
