Palm Bay Police Department Sounds All Clear After Bayside High School Shelter in Place Order

The Palm Bay Police Department received a call from Bayside High School officials Thursday regarding an unidentified person on campus, which led to the school being put in a shelter in place status. “The safety and security of students and staff are our utmost priority, and as such, officers conducted an extensive search of all buildings and surrounding property,” said Palm Bay Police Lt. Virginia Kilmer.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA –  The Palm Bay Police Department received a call from Bayside High School officials Thursday regarding an unidentified person on campus, which led to the school being put in a shelter in place status.

“The safety and security of students and staff are our utmost priority, and as such, officers conducted an extensive search of all buildings and surrounding property,” said Palm Bay Police Lt. Virginia Kilmer.

“We want to assure you that the situation has been thoroughly assessed, and there is no imminent threat to the school.”

Lt. Kilmer said no firearms were found during the incident and students and staff are safe, as normal activities have resumed.
