BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard county Sheriff Wayne Ivey officially endorsed Mike Haridopolos for Brevard County’s next U.S. Congressman in the 8th Congressional District of the U.S. House of Representatives after Rep. Bill Posey announced last month that he will retire and not seek another term.
Sheriff Ivey announced his support for Haridopolos via social media:
“I am honored and excited to announce my endorsement of Mike Haridopolos to serve as Brevard’s next U.S. Congressman in the 8th Congressional District of the US House of Representatives,” said Sheriff Ivey.
“I have known Mike for many years and have watched him serve our community and state as a member of the Florida Senate and eventually as the Senate President. Mike, like I do, understands that government’s one and only responsibility is to protect it’s citizens and as such, has a proven track record of standing up for law and order.
“He loves Brevard County and our first responders and he is exactly what we as a community need to start sending to Washington. While Congressman Bill Posey has done an amazing job serving our community and great nation, Mike will greatly follow his lead and make sure that common sense and conservative principals are his driving force in serving as a Congressman.
“Mike has always stood strong as a Shepherd of our taxpayer dollars and will use his vast experience to make sound decisions that are in the best interest of America.
“It is for those reasons and many more that I proudly endorse Mike Haridopolos for Florida’s 8th Congressional District of the US House of Representatives!”

“I wish to thank our incredible Congressman Bill Posey for his faithful service to our community, state, and nation. I will work every day to live up to his legacy of service and serve the people of District 8 with integrity and honor,” Haridopolos said.
“Our nation is facing unprecedented problems here at home and overseas. Our Southern Border is in chaos. Illegal immigration is out of control. Higher prices are crushing our families and killing the American dream. It’s a mess, and we need leaders in Congress to stand up and fix it.
“I am no stranger to navigating legislative discord to get results for the people, and I pledge to bring my private sector and leadership experience to Washington DC to get the job done. As your Congressman, I will stand with President Trump and his America First Agenda,” Haridopolos said.
Haridopolos lives in Indian Harbour Beach Florida with his wife, Dr. Stephanie Haridopolos and their three children.
He is a former member of the Florida House of Representatives (2000-2003) and State Senate (2003-2012). He was elected President of the Senate by his colleagues from 2010-2012.
He also co-authored the book, The Modern Republican Party of Florida, published in 2019. He continues to appear regularly on Fox 35 Orlando and is active in national, Florida and local politics, helping Republicans win elections.
Three other candidates are on the Republican ballot, including John Hearton of Satellite Beach and Joe Babits of Vero Beach. Democratic candidates on the ballot are Sandy Kennedy of Cocoa and Daniel McDow of West Melbourne.
Florida Congressional District 8 includes Brevard, Indian River, and portions of Orange Counties. The district has a voter registration makeup of 46% Republican, 26% Democrat, and 28% Other.
