BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech junior shortstop Jason Blackstone has been named to the 2024 All-SSC Defensive Team, as announced by the Sunshine State Conference on Tuesday.

This is the first All-SSC honor for Blackstone in his career and the fourth year in a row that Tech has placed an individual on the All-SSC Defensive Team.

Starting and playing 48 out of 50 games at shortstop for the Panthers this season, Blackstone was a key factor in the lineup both in the field and at the plate.

The Indialantic, native led the conference in assists with 162 and added 72 putouts for a .951 fielding percentage. Tech also turned 45 double plays throughout the year, the third-most in the league, and Blackstone was a part of 33 of those, which was fourth-best in the league for an individual.

Offensively, Blackstone slashed .285/.377/.352 during the season. He finished second on the team in total hits (55), total bases (68), stolen bases (11), and doubles (8). He also went on a 42-game on-base streak during the season, and reached base safely in 46 out of 48 games played.
