BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Titusville Police and Code Enforcement Departments are initiating a proactive crime prevention program for the next two months as statistics reveal a rise in home burglaries, vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts during the summer months.

With that said, members of the police and the code enforcement departments want to remind community members to always close their garage doors and lock their homes, businesses, and vehicles in a focused effort to reduce crime.

In fact, 85% of vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts are committed when vehicles are unlocked and/or have the keys inside.

As a way to prevent these crimes of opportunity, for the next 60 days of summer, we will be issuing a 9 p.m. reminder to lock up vehicles, businesses, and homes, remove valuables from your vehicle, and close your garage door.

This message will be sent every night at 9 p.m. via official Titusville Police Department social media platforms.
