BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Former Viera Hawks star and current NC State catcher Alex Sosa was selected to play on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

Coming out of High School Sosa was the No. 6 ranked catching prospect and No. 56 ranked player in the country in the 2023 MLB Draft.

Sosa committed to the Wolfpack back in 2020. He chose NC State over multiple Division I programs such as Miami, Florida and Florida State.

The former Viera catcher finished his senior season with the Hawks with an average of .471, 33 hits, and 26 RBIs.

That season the Hawks baseball team finished as FHSAA State Runner-Up for the first time in program history.
