Community Band of Brevard to Host ‘Fall Audience Favorites’ at Merritt Island High School Sept. 8

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – As Floridians count the remaining days of summer, the Community Band of Brevard will hasten the changing season with Fall Audience Favorites on September 8 at the Merritt Island High School Auditorium, 100 Mustang Way.
The 3 p.m. concert will include a variety of well-known marches and classical pieces, in addition to paying tribute to WWII Veterans with the theme from the well-known television series, Victory At Sea.
The audience can expect “Manhattan Beach” by John Philip Sousa, “Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral” by Richard Wagner, “Themes from Green Bushes” by Percy Grainger and “Seventy-Six Trombones” by Meredith Willson and many more selections.
A past winner of the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s Sudler Silver Scroll Award for musical excellence, the Community Band of Brevard is directed by former military bandleader, Robin Kessler.

“We’ve got a great afternoon of music lined up for the audience,” said Kessler. “Our loyal fans have been waiting anxiously for the season to start. And I must say, it’s nice to be missed!”

Formed in 1985 by Marion Scott, The Community Band of Brevard performs several high-quality, free public concerts each year. Musical selections include classical, jazz, show tunes, contemporary music, big band arrangements and original compositions, often featuring talented guest artists.
In 2021, retired Army Band Commander, Rob Kessler assumed conducting duties for the 65-member Community Band of Brevard. Musicians are all-volunteer players with diverse musical backgrounds.
