Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) successfully restored power to essentially all customers impacted by Hurricane Debby. On Tuesday, FPL crews restored power to over 250,000 customers in 34 counties.

The company’s smart grid technology helped avoid nearly 85,000 outages, according to FPL.

Why it matters: Debby brought significant flooding, strong winds and storm surge to southwest and north Florida. FPL’s restoration workforce, which included employees, contractors and out of state assistance, worked around the clock to restore electricity to customers.

What customers should do: Safety remains FPL’s top priority. Debby weakened trees and vegetation along its path and left significant flooding in some areas. Continue to be cautious as dangerous conditions could last for some time, even after the storm has passed. Take the time now to revisit storm preparation plans as Florida enters the peak of hurricane season. Preparation and safety tips are available at FPL.com/Storm.

“Storms are disruptive to our customers and our communities. At FPL, we are committed to safely and quickly restoring a sense of normalcy following any severe weather event,” said FPL President and CEO Armando Pimentel.

“Hurricane Debby reminds us that, as Floridians, we all need to be prepared for whatever may come our way this storm season.”
