OBITUARY: 1972 Cocoa High Graduate Cynthia Butler, 69, Passed Away

Cynthia was a member of the Cocoa High track team and a Homecoming Princess

Cynthia Butler Passed away in Rockledge at the age of 69. She attended and graduated from Cocoa High School in 1972. She was a member of the track team and was a Homecoming Princess and retired from the Brevard County Schools as an Administrative Assistant after 30 years of service.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Cynthia Butler Passed away in Rockledge at the age of 69. Cynthia is survived by her loving husband, Craig. She was a wonderful mother to Jeffrey Butler (Raquel) of Port Malabar and daughter, Erika Pemberton (Donnie) of Dothan, AL.

She was the most devoted grandmother (Mimi) to Gabe and Addie Pemberton and Liam and Owen Butler. She lived and breathed for her family. She was predeceased by her parents, John “Red” and Lucille May, Wilber and Barbara Butler, and her great-nephew Riley Fowler.

She is also survived by her brother, Buster May (Sue) from North Carolina, sisters Teresa Battell and Valorie Helmer (Jim) from Cocoa and younger brother James May (Denise) from Orange Park, Florida. She also loved and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews living in Florida, North Carolina and New Orleans.

Cynthia was born in Gastonia, NC but moved to Florida when she was only 4. She attended and graduated from Cocoa High School in 1972. She was a member of the track team and was a Homecoming Princess. She retired from the Brevard County Schools as an Administrative Assistant after 30 years of service. Her family and friends felt that she should have been an artist.

Cynthia was completely devoted to her children and grandchildren attending all events and just bursting with pride. She also enjoyed dining out with her family. Mimi will forever be remembered, loved and missed.

The viewing and friends and family gathering will take place at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral located at 1001 Hickory Street in Melbourne on Wednesday, August 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the service will take place at same location on Thursday, August 15 at 10 a.m. The burial will follow immediately at Fountainhead Memorial Park located at 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay.
