‘Spray Day’ is when the recruits experience the effects of being pepper sprayed and they must battle through the pain and lack of vision, all while performing defensive tactics they have learned over the past several weeks, putting their skills to the ultimate test. (BCSO Image)

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Yesterday was a monumental day for our Brevard County Sheriff’s Office 24L3 Academy recruits, as they underwent what is known in law enforcement as “Spray Day”.

This is when our recruits experience the effects of being pepper sprayed and they must battle through the pain and lack of vision, all while performing defensive tactics they have learned over the past several weeks, putting their skills to the ultimate test.

I could not be more proud of the hard work these recruits put in each day, especially this one, as it is one they will never forget.

I want to thank our Career Development Unit and all of the instructors for their dedication to preparing these future Deputies, and to all of the recruits, keep up the hard work and we look forward to you seeing you in green real soon.
