Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Continues to Assist Hurricane Helene Victims in Brevard, North Carolina

SHERIFF IVEY: I am so grateful that our agency has been able to help so many both near and far

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – From our Brevard County Sheriff’s Office family to those in Brevard North Carolina, we are always here to help those gravely impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Tuesday night, our team at Central Logistics loaded up a box truck and Sgt. Jay Church and Cpl. Brian Claudius set out for Brevard, North Carolina to deliver much needed supplies.

Once they arrived, they were graciously greeted by Sheriff Chuck Owenby of Transylvania County and Jamie Laughter, County Manager.

Sheriff Owenby directed them to Anchor Baptist Mission Store where they were down to their last pallet of water, unsure of when a truck with more would arrive.

To say that Shanna Lanning, with Anchor Baptist, was overwhelmingly happy to see Sgt. Church and Cpl. Claudius would be an understatement, as she was brought to tears when she saw the pallets of water.

When the unthinkable happens and the country faces tragic times, those of us who were lucky enough to stay out of harms way have to come together to help them, and I am so grateful that our agency has been able to help so many both near and far.

I want to thank Sgt. Church and Cpl. Claudius for driving the supplies to North Carolina, and to Sheriff Owenby and our partners up there for everything they are doing to rebuild their communities.

As I always say, it takes a community to protect a community, regardless of where that community is!
