BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – It is with great sadness that the family of Alfred C. Nelson of Cocoa, FL, announce his passing on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the age of 80.
Al was born in 1944 to Mabel and Carl Nelson in Key West, FL. He graduated from Cocoa High School in 1962 and later worked as a Program Manager overseeing the mail services contracts at Kennedy Space Center, FL for almost 50 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife, Diana Nelson, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years; his two sons, Tim Nelson of Rockledge, FL and Chad Nelson of Gainesville, FL; and as Poppy to his three grandchildren Sarah, Heather and Kyle Nelson.
He was treasured by sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and friends along with his beloved dog Rosi. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Erna and Maxine, and his brother Lafe.
Al and Diana loved to travel and play golf with friends and family. His other hobbies included photography, bowling, and poker night with the guys. Family was always a priority. He will be forever remembered for his love, kindness, ever-present smile, quick wit and outstanding steak dinners.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Beckman Williamson Funeral Home in Viera, FL followed by a Celebration of Al’s life beginning at 12 pm.
