Brevard Area Waste Management Operations Expected to Continue as Scheduled for Monday and Tuesday

WATCH: National Hurricane Center Director Dr. Michael Brennan provides an update on Tropical Storm Milton. Hurricane and storm surge watches could be issued as early as late Sunday for Florida as Milton is about 800 miles west-southwest of Tampa according to NHC’s 1 p.m. update on Sunday.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As of Sunday, all Brevard County area Waste Management operations are expected to continue as scheduled for Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8.

Waste Management will remain in contact with Brevard County officials and advise if this should change, as well as advise on operations for Wednesday, October 9.

At this time, Waste Management asks that residents do not place any large, loose vegetative debris piles curbside, as it is unlikely they will be serviced before the storm – visit www.WMFloridaStorm.com for service updates.

As of 5 p.m. today, Milton has strengthened into a Category 1 Hurricane, with max sustained winds of 85 mph. Milton is still forecast to intensify into a major hurricane early this week and remain a major hurricane as it approaches the west coast of Florida midweek.

Hurricane and storm surge watches could be issued as early as late Sunday for Florida as Milton is about 800 miles west-southwest of Tampa according to NHC’s 1 p.m. update on Sunday.

Currently, the storm has maximum sustained winds of 65 mph and is moving east-southeast at 6 mph and is expected to gain hurricane status Sunday nigh,t and a major hurricane status on late Monday, according to the NHC.

On the Space Coast, rainfall amounts of 6 to 8 inches are forecast and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for 51 counties ahead of Milton’s landfall on the Florida west coast Wednesday morning.
