Likely to impact Florida as Category 2 Hurricane

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Could Florida be impacted by two hurricanes over a two-week span? National Hurricane Center says that could be likely after their latest 2 p.m. report shows Tropical Storm Milton impacting the Florida Gulf Coast by Wednesday of next week as a hurricane.
The system is expected to be a Category 2 hurricane by the time it makes landfall on Florida next week.
Brevard County will likely feel the impact from Milton as it pushes across Central Florida on Wednesday.
Currently, Tropical Storm Milton is located about 200 miles northeast of Veracruz, Mexico.
Milton is carrying 40 max sustained winds and is expected to pick up additional strength as it moves across the Gulf in warmer water.
This system is expected to move faster east-northeastward to northeastward motion by Monday and Tuesday.
The current forecast track suggests the tropical storm will remain over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico through Sunday night, then move across the south-central Gulf of Mexico on Monday and Tuesday, and approach the west coast of the Florida Peninsula by midweek.
Areas of heavy rainfall will also impact portions of Florida Sunday and Monday well ahead of the tropical system, with heavy rainfall
more directly related to the system expected by later Tuesday through Wednesday.
This rainfall brings the risk of flash, urban, and area flooding, along with minor to isolated moderate river flooding.
Residents in Brevard County need to continue to monitor the developments of this system as it could bring damaging hurricane winds and flooding to certain parts of Brevard.
At this time, there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. That will likely change in the next 24-48 hours, based upon the forecast models.
Hurricane and Storm Surge watches will likely be required for portions of Florida on Sunday.
