22-Year-Old Melbourne Woman Killed in Rollover Crash That Shut Down I-95 in Palm Bay

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol has reported a 22-year-old Melbourne woman was killed and another woman was injured after an early Thursday morning rollover crash that shut down Interstate 95 near the Palm Bay Road exit.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, the fatal crash occurred at about 4:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95 when the driver lost control and ran off the roadway, collided with the guardrail, and then overturned.
A Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson said the driver was not wearing a seat belt, ejected from the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene.
A 21-year-old woman from Melbourne, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
Although all lanes were shut down on Thursday morning, the road is now clear. Drivers should expect some residual traffic throughout the morning.
The identity of the victims has not been released.
