UPDATE: Florida Highway Patrol investigators have confirmed the suspect’s hit-and-run vehicle is a gold Honda Accord. The suspect vehicle should have damage to the front and the passenger side mirror.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol officials reported that a hit-and-run crash occurred Saturday morning at approximately 6:48 a.m. on Arabella Lane and Barclay Drive in Cocoa.

According to FHP spokesperson Lieutenant Tara Crescenzi, an unknown vehicle was traveling northbound on Arabella Lane north of Barclay Drive when a 55-year-old woman was walking northbound on Arabella Lane next to the right shoulder of the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.

Lt. Crescenzi said that after the collision, the unknown vehicle fled the scene northbound on Arabella Lane. The victim was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The hit-and-run vehicle appears to be a lighter color (silver or gold) 2004-2008 Honda Accord and should have damage to the right passenger side mirror and front right bumper.

“Leaving the scene of a crash that results in property damage, injury, or death is against the law,” said Lt. Crescenzi.

“The Florida Highway Patrol is reminding Floridians about the consequences of leaving the scene of a crash and the challenges law enforcement face when investigating a hit-and-run crash.”

If involved in a crash, stay at the scene, call for help, and follow these steps:

1. Make sure you and any passengers are okay. Remain calm.
2. If possible, move to the side of the road. Remove your keys if you get out of your vehicle, move off the roadway, and stay in a safe area.
3. Check on others involved. Call 911 if anyone might be injured or if a vehicle is inoperable.
4. If there are no injuries or major property damage, gather information. Get the name, driver license, insurance, and tag information from the other driver(s). Take photos of the vehicles and information if you can’t write it down, and then file a report online.
