Canaveral Port Ministry Brings Support, Encouragement to Crews Aboard Ships Docked at Port Canaveral

Canaveral Port Ministry is seafarer's home away from home

BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA — For many crew members aboard ships docked at Port Canaveral, the opportunity to disembark and explore the port is not always possible.

Recognizing this challenge, the Canaveral Port Ministry has stepped in to offer support and companionship to those who remain onboard.

The ministry’s chaplain teams regularly visit ships docked in the port, bringing with them a message of encouragement and hope.

“We go onboard to freely share resources from our ministry center,” a representative from Canaveral Port Ministry shared. “The crew loves it when we visit.”

The ministry’s work is part of its broader mission to serve those who spend months at sea, often enduring long hours and challenging conditions.

By extending this gesture of kindness, the Canaveral Port Ministry hopes to remind crew members that they are not alone.

The mission of the Canaveral Port Ministry is to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the crew members serving on ships coming to Port Canaveral.

“We seek to share the love of Christ so that people can know Him personally,” a representative from Canaveral Port Ministry said.

These values of the Canaveral Port Ministry Board of Directors are:

■ Hospitality: “Free” is a common adjective that describes the amenities at the ministry, which organizers hope to be the seafarer’s home away from home.

■ Love: Volunteers get to serve the seafarers as ministry volunteers treat them as guests, and the volunteers get to be the crew.

■ Restoration: Distribute Bibles and materials in over 64 languages, seafarers are equipped to know the truth about God’s love and plan for their life.
