Celebrity Equinox Arrives at Port Canaveral, Week-Long Caribbean Voyages Start December 7

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Port Canaveral welcomed another new cruise partner when Celebrity Equinox arrived this morning, marking the first time that Celebrity Cruises has sailed from the Port.
The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Equinox becomes Port Canaveral’s 15th vessel to call the world’s second busiest cruise port home.
Celebrity Equinox sails on its inaugural voyage from Port Canaveral this afternoon then launches week-long Caribbean voyages beginning Saturday, December 7.
The vessel includes a theater and a lawn made up of real grass between the ship’s funnels where croquet can be played.
Celebrity Equinox is the second of the five Solstice-class vessels, owned and operated by Celebrity Cruises.
She is a sister ship of Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Silhouette, and the Celebrity Reflection. Construction officially started in September 2007. Celebrity Equinox left the shipyard in June 2009 and entered commercial service for Celebrity Cruises on July 31, 2009.
