Palm Bay to Close Fred Pope Regional Park Playground Dec. 30 For Upgrades

the new $480,000 all-inclusive playground will meet ADA standards
BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Fred Poppe Regional Park playground will close on December 30 for a $480,000 all-inclusive playground upgrade that will meet ADA standards and provide a space for children of all abilities to play together.
Some highlights include all-ground surfacing, rubberized surfacing, climbing rock, wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round 12 swings to include handicapped, child, adult, and parent/adult swings, artificial mounds, seven slides, sunshades, and a climbing net.
The completion of this project is estimated to be in March 2025.
This Fred Poppe Regional 200-acre park is home to the Brevard Soccer Alliance, Bayside Bears, and the Brevard Caribbean American Sports and Cultural Association.
There are also four lakes for fishing.
The park has two large pavilions and one small pavilion, all with charcoal grills and restrooms, and electric and/or water may be available.
Additional facilities include lighted multi-purpose athletic fields, basketball and volleyball courts, picnic areas, a playground, bicycle/walking trails, lighted softball and baseball fields, a dog park for small and large dogs, and ponds.
The Ted Whitlock Community Center is located inside Fred Poppe Regional Park. The 18,000 sq. ft. community center offers a gymnasium, industrial-sized kitchen, one large multi-use/banquet room with a divider, a small meeting room, a billiards room, a small fitness room, and restrooms.
Whether you are ready for some competitive sports like disc golf, want to spend the day fishing one of the lakes on-site, or want to bike your way around, there is something for everyone, and the picnic areas with a place to grill your food make this an easy place to enjoy your whole day.
