Shredding Truck Catches Fire on Myrtice Avenue in Merritt Island

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue responded to the scene of shredding truck on fire on Friday after a small fire broke out in the load of shredded paper in the truck’s rear compartment.

The incident occurred in the area of Myrtice Avenue and McLeod Street in Merritt Island.

To safely extinguish the smoldering fire, the truck was forced to dump its load of shredded paper onto the street.

BCFR crews quickly got to work to suppress the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

The shredding company was also on-site to assist with the cleanup effort.

Motorists traveling through the affected area were advised to expect delays while fire crews and the cleanup team handled the situation.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
