Eastern Florida State College Basketball Conference Opener Matchups Set for January 8

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College basketball teams will be back at Titan Field House Wednesday evening to host their first Citrus Conference games.
Women’s Basketball
The women’s team will host a Citrus Conference matchup with St. Petersburg College. Eastern Florida State College won the first meeting 75-40 back in December and have won each of the past 10 meetings.
The Titans, who are ranked 23rd in the NJCAA Division I National Poll, head into the matchup 5-2 in the conference. Eastern Florida State College is coming off an overtime loss to Florida Southwestern State College on Saturday and look to bounce back against St. Petersburg College.
Sophomore E’Zaria Adams scored a career-high 26 points on Saturday and has scored at least 10 points in five of the past six games and is averaging 15 points per game in the seven conference games. Karen Nimo and Jalei O’Neal are averaging 11 and 10 points per game respectively.
St. Petersburg College lost a close conference game against Hillsborough Community College and look for their first conference win on Wednesday. Xaniya Jackson had 15 points on Saturday and has scored in double figures in each of the past two games. Leanna Pabst and Mia Lake come into Wednesday’s game averaging 10 points apiece this season.
Wednesday night’s game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and admission is free to games at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus. Fans can also watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
Men’s Basketball
The Men’s Basketball Titans, who are ranked 24th in the NJCAA Division I National Poll, will host St. Petersburg College at 7:30 p.m. in a battle of teams that posted wins to start the conference season.
Eastern Florida State College is 12-2 overall and defeated Florida Southwestern State College Saturday 74-68 on the road. Sophomore Emondrek Erkins-Ford scored a career-high 28 points in the game and has scored in double figures in every game this season. The Titans are on a five-game win streak which is the longest of the season.
Joviel Acevedo-Arroyo finished with a season-high 12 points off the bench against the Bucs while Corey Caulker had 10 points.
St. Petersburg College defeated Hillsborough Community College Saturday 81-75 as four players scored in double figures. Brandon Davis led the attack with 25 points while Isaac Edwards recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Mason Blazer finished with 16 points and Tim Okojie had 13 as they improved to 10-4 overall. Blazer leads the team offensively, averaging 14.4 points per game this season.
It is the first meeting of the season between the two teams and Eastern Florida State College has won the past three meetings.
