Eastern Florida State College Men’s Basketball Team to Host Daytona State in Battle for First Place

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team will host Daytona State College in a battle for first place in the Citrus Conference on Saturday.
The Titans, who are ranked No. 21 in the latest NJCAA Division I national poll, will face the sixth-ranked Falcons at 4 p.m. at Titan Field House. Both teams come into the matchup unbeaten in conference play and each have 15 wins this season.
Daytona State College has won 13 straight games and is averaging an FCSAA-best 102.5 points per game this season. The 102.5 points is fourth-best in the nation and the team has scored over 100 points in four of the past five games. The Falcons are coming off a close win against Miami Dade College, winning 88-84.
Seven Falcons are averaging at least nine points per game this season led by Isaiah Dorceus who is averaging 15.1 points per game. In the three conference games, he is averaging 22.3 points. Teammate Eduardo Placer and Jaylin Payne are each averaging 11 points a game while Dylan Diaz and Ryan Bewley come into the contest averaging 10 points.
Eastern Florida State College has won eight games in a row and are unbeaten at home this season. The Titans are tied for third in the FCSAA in scoring, averaging 85.9 points per game and have allowed just 62.1 points per game which is second in the state.
Emondrek Erkins-Ford has scored 23 points or more in three of the past four games and is averaging 16.7 points per game this season. In the four conference games the sophomore is averaging 23 points. Fredy-Salam Sylla and Corey Caulker are each averaging 12 points per game and Felipe Patino is scoring 11.7 points per game.
Saturday’s game will follow the women’s game which begins at 2 p.m. The men’s game is scheduled to tip off around 4 p.m. and admission to games at Titan Field House is free. Fans can watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
