BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – This January, during Human Trafficking Awareness Month, the 2nd Annual Light the Darkness 5K will bring the community together to shine a light on the fight against human trafficking.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Cocoa Beach, Florida, this special event will take place on the sands in front of the Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, located at 1550 N. Atlantic Ave.
The 5K begins at 5:30 p.m. at Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront.
The Light the Darkness 5K is more than just a race; it is a call to action.
The event aims to raise awareness and funds to support the prevention, identification, rehabilitation, and ongoing care of survivors who have endured sexual exploitation.
This year, the mission gains even greater momentum through a partnership with two impactful organizations: Called Out and ReleaseSARA. Together, they have developed the SARA’s Roots Initiative, a program designed to provide affordable housing and essential resources for survivors of human trafficking in Brevard County.
Proceeds from the race will directly support this transformative initiative, offering hope and healing to those in need.
The race is scheduled as an evening out-and-back course along the beach, providing participants with the unique experience of running or walking under the breathtaking coastal sky. The event not only highlights the importance of community involvement but also provides a scenic and meaningful way to contribute to a cause that changes lives.
