BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Brightline commuter train and an SUV were involved in a collision Tuesday afternoon in Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The crash resulted in serious injuries for the SUV’s driver, who was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Authorities have confirmed that the injuries, while significant, are not life-threatening.

The accident occurred at a railroad crossing near U.S. 1 and Jordan Boulevard in Malabar, a coastal area situated between Palm Bay and Grant-Valkaria.
According to FHP, a Honda CR-V was traveling eastbound on Jordan Boulevard, approaching U.S. 1, as the Brightline train moved southbound along the tracks.

Eyewitnesses reported that the railroad crossing signal was active at the time of the crash. Despite this, the SUV’s driver allegedly attempted to maneuver around the barrier, leading to the collision.
The impact left the vehicle severely damaged, requiring emergency responders from the Malabar Fire Department to extricate the driver from the wreckage.
Photographs from the scene depict the aftermath of the crash, showing the SUV mangled and pushed off the tracks. The crossing arm sustained substantial damage, with images showing it bent and partially detached from its support system.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
