BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — The Government Finance Officers Association announced that the City of Cocoa received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its its Fiscal Year 2025 Adopted Budget document.

This prestigious honor represents a significant achievement and reflects the commitment of the City and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. This is the 7th year in a row that the city has received this recognition.

To receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation that assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.

Cocoa’s budget document received outstanding remarks from the independent reviewers including, “Outstanding, Clear and transparent, Articulate and Clear, as well as Outstanding use of charts.”

“Once again, I’d like to commend the city staff for always working towards the highest standards and achieving this success for the 7th straight year. The City of Cocoa is dedicated to providing quality, transparent and accurate budget documentation to our residents year after year,” said Mayor Michael C. Blake, Mayor of the City of Cocoa.
