Eastern Florida State College Men’s Golf Team in Second Place at Titan Winter Invitational

The Titans shot a 4-over 292 in the first round

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team is in second place after the first round of the Titan Winter Invitational Monday at Suntree Country Club.
The Titans shot a 4-over 292 in the first round and trails Mississippi Gulf Coast who shot 2-under 286 to lead the tournament which was set behind due to dense fog in the morning.
Daniel Byers shot a 69 in the first round for the Titans with four birdies and bogeyed the 18th hole and is tied for second individually. Teammate Micke Laurelli shot a 73 in the first round, posting birdies on holes No. 2, 3 and 4 but struggled on the back nine with four bogeys.
Sophomores Masen McKain and Hugo Griesheimer each shot 3-over 75 in the first round. Jamie Chepenik finished with an 84.
Southeastern’s Connor Williams shot the round of the day, posting a 6-under. Williams had seven birdies and just one bogey in the first round. Mississippi Gulf Coast’s John mark Mills also shot a 3-under on Monday.
Horace Pennix shot even par as an individual while teammate Adam Ward had an 81 and Andrew Bell shot an 85.
Southeastern is in third, shooting 5-over while New Mexico Junior College is in fourth one stroke behind Southeastern.
The teams finished the second round on Tuesday morning before playing the final round at Suntree Country Club.
