Eastern Florida State Women’s Basketball Win Tenth Conference Game Against Hillsborough

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team use a big second half to defeat Hillsborough Community College Wednesday at Titan Field House.

The Titans held Hillsborough Community College to five points in the third quarter as they came from behind to pick up the 65-49 victory in a Citrus Conference game.

Eastern Florida State College’s Karen Nimo made three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, helping the Titans pull away for their fifth straight win. Nimo scored 11 of their game-leading 16 points and also grabbed eight rebounds off the bench.

The Titans came out of halftime on an 7-0 run and took the lead on an Ashleigh Battle basket in the third quarter as they trailed almost the entire first half. The game was tied 30-30 late in the third when the Titans finished the quarter with another 7-0 run.

The game remained tight for the first half of the fourth quarter but then Nimo hit her first 3-pointer with 5:02 remaining. She hit two more 3-pointers in the next two minutes as Eastern Florida State College dominated the quarter, scoring 28 points.

Battle finished with 15 points while E’Zaria Adams had 10 points.

Hillsborough Community College’s Maisel Reyes scored 16 points for the Hawks.

Eastern Florida State College, who is now 18-5 overall and 10-2 in the conference, will host Florida Southwestern State College next Wednesday in the final home game for the Titans this season.

Eastern Florida State College is 9-0 at home this season and has now won 43 straight games at home. Wednesday’s game with Florida Southwestern will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and fans can watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
