BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Benjamin Hovan has been sentenced to life in prison for terrorizing and kidnapping two Seminole County women and sexually battering one of them in 2018.
A jury convicted Hovan in January of burglary of a dwelling with an assault or battery, sexual battery by use or threat of use of a deadly weapon, and two counts of kidnapping with a weapon.
At trial, Assistant State Attorneys Martine McCarthy, Domenick Leo and Paul Brill presented witnesses and evidence that proved Hovan stalked two young women to a Casselberry apartment then forced his way inside with a knife and crowbar.

Hovan pursued the women into a bedroom, where he pinned both to a bed and chose one to sexually batter, witnesses said. Then, he forced both to drive him to an ATM at a grocery store in Maitland to withdraw and give him money.
For those crimes, Circuit Judge Jessica Recksiedler sentenced Hovan Feb. 24 to four concurrent life sentences in prison.
Parole does not exist in Florida.
The judge also signed an order declaring Hovan a sexual predator.
