The top-seeded Holy Trinity Tigers dominated Jupiter Christian in a decisive victory, showing why they are the team to beat. On Tuesday, the Tigers defeated No. 5 seed Foundation Academy 66-19 in the Class 2A Regional Semifinals. Holy Trinity will now square off against Lakeland Christian Friday night at 7 p.m.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The high school basketball postseason is heating up, with local teams putting on stellar performances in their regional playoff matchups.

Holy Trinity Tigers (No. 1 Seed) on Fire

The top-seeded Holy Trinity Tigers dominated Jupiter Christian in a decisive victory, showing why they are the team to beat. On Tuesday, the Tigers defeated No. 5 seed Foundation Academy 66-19 in the Class 2A Regional Semifinals. Holy Trinity will now square off against Lakeland Christian Friday night at 7 p.m.

Cocoa Tigers’ Hard-Fought Battle Ends in Defeat

Despite a valiant effort, the No. 8 seed Cocoa Tigers fell to Cardinal Mooney in the Class 3A Regional Quarterfinals, bringing an end to their playoff run.

Palm Bay Pirates Continue to Impress

The No. 1 seed Palm Bay Pirates cruised past North Marion in the Regional Quarterfinal and No. 5 seed Lake Region Thunder 89-24 in the Class 4A Regional Semifinal. The Pirates will now meet No. 2 Bishop Moore in the Regional Final Friday night at 7 p.m.

Bayside Bears Edge Heritage Once Again

For the third time this season, the No. 4 seed Bayside Bears secured a victory over No. 5 seed Heritage in the Regional Quarterfinal but fell to Bloomingdale in the Class 6A Regional Semifinal.

Viera Hawks Fall to Top-Seeded Bloomingdale

The No. 8 seed Viera Hawks wrapped up a strong season but were unable to overcome No. 1 seed Bloomingdale, marking the end of their playoff journey.

Viera Hawks’ Season Ends in Regional Semifinals

The No. 3 seed Viera Hawks had an impressive regular season but fell short in the 6A Regional Semifinals against the No. 2 seed Edgewater Eagles, concluding their postseason run.

FACA Awards Recognize Top Talent

The Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) honored local talent and coaching excellence with prestigious awards.

Coach of the Year Honorees:

▪️EJ Murray (Girls Palm Bay Pirates – Class 4A District 12)

▪️Brian Waritay (Girls Cocoa Tigers – Class 3A District 12)

Players of the Year:

▪️Aaron McGee (Boys Viera Hawks – Class 6A District 12)

▪️Jaida Civil (Girls Palm Bay Pirates – Class 4A District 12)

▪️Gianna Conklin-Jones (Girls Cocoa Tigers – Class 3A District 12)

This season has been a testament to the talent and dedication of these student-athletes and their coaches.

Space Coast native and Eastern Florida State College journalism student Zane Garcia has joined the Space Coast Day–Friday Night Locker Room team.

Garcia grew up in Rockledge and attended Andersen Elementary and Kennedy Middle before becoming a Rockledge Raider. After moving to Melbourne, he attended Eau Gallie High School, graduating in 2019.

As a youth, Garcia excelled in many sports and played basketball in middle school and all four years of high school, including at Rockledge and Eau Gallie high schools.

“My passion for sports was sparked at a young age, and I look forward to bringing exciting play-by-play action, expert analysis, and highlighting the players and coaches that make sports on the Space Coast special,” said Garcia.

Garcia joins the veteran and expert Space Coast Daily–Friday Night Locker Room team that includes Space Coast Sports Hall of Famers Steve Wilson and Orville Susong of the Friday Night Locker Room, Tom Palermo, Jim Palermo, Giles Malone, Zach Clark, Terry Spain, JC Meyerholz, Matt O’Hern, Gavin Keith, Bobby Freeman and Brian Dillon.

The Space Coast Daily–Friday Night Locker Room principals and broadcast team have over 100 years of experience covering sports in Brevard County and beyond.

Garcia said he looks forward to providing live sports broadcasts featuring cutting-edge coverage on the streaming Space Coast Daily TV, along with player interviews, replays, highlights, pre-game and post-game analysis, and much more!
