COLLEGE SPORTS SPOTLIGHT

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA—As the collegiate season is underway, I would like to highlight some of our Brevard County natives who are making a name for themselves at the next level on the softball field.
Across the Space Coast, there are a multitude of talented athletes who are successful in every college division.
VIERA:
■ Haley Rider, Freshman OF at Florida Tech: Rider, who signed out of high school with Florida Tech, has started 34 out of 36 games and leads the Panthers in batting average at .402, with four home runs and 21 RBIs.
■ Addy Berry, Freshman RHP at UNC-Greensboro: Berry has started three games for UNCG and won all three in 17.2 innings pitched. Appearing in six games, Berry has struck out nine total batters.
■ Skylar Waggoner, Sophomore LHP at Jacksonville University: In 23-24, Waggoner was named to the ASUN All-Freshman team and an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete. Team highs in strikeouts and innings pitched, Waggoner gained a lot of experience going into this season. This season, Waggoner has lowered her ERA from 3.02 to 1.91, striking out 52 batters through 80 innings pitched.
■ Madison Ford, Sophomore C at Campbell University: Ford transferred to Campbell University this past year after a solid freshman season at Eastern Florida State College. As a sophomore, Ford started 35 of 35 games batting .347 with 22 RBIs.
■ Anna Brait, Junior SS at Holy Cross: As a Junior, Brait has cemented herself in the record books at Holy Cross. Tied for second in single-season hits, tied for fourth in single-season RBIs, and fourth in single-season walks, all accomplished as a freshman. Brait leads the team in hits and batting average at .320 this season.

MELBOURNE:
■ Jazzy Francik, Freshman RHP at FSU: After a decorated high school career where she was named Gatorade player of the year and became a state champion, Francik signed with the Seminoles. Francik has proved her worth as a freshman, posting a 1.85 ERA with a record of 7-2 and 6 saves. In 15 appearances, Francik has struck out 65 batters in 68 innings pitched!
■ Kylah Berry, Sophomore RHP at North Florida: Berry has impressed in her sophomore season, posting a 1.00 ERA with a 4-0 record. After a solid freshman season, Berry improved tremendously this season and earned ASUN conference player of the year in March. In 42 innings, Berry has struck out an impressive 42 batters and looks to continue playing well.
■ Nadia English, Sophomore INF at Stetson University: As a freshman, English played very solidly, batting .311 in 42 games played with a home run and 13 RBIs. Following a successful freshman season, English has doubled the number of at-bats from last year and sent two out of the park with 23 RBIs on a respectable .274 batting average.
EAU GALLIE:
■ Sarah Langlie, Freshman OF/C at Barry University: Out of high school, Langlie signed with Barry University in South Florida. In her freshman year, she has played and started all 43 games. Langlie leads the team with a stellar .411 batting average along with one home run and 40 RBIs.
