BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA—The NASCAR Foundation selected Brevard County charity Heroes United to Heal to participate in its NASCAR Day Giveathon, a 27-hour period during which the racing community supports charities.
Heroes United to Heal’s mission is dedicated to ending hero suicide, as it is the leading cause of death in both veteran and first responder communities.
“We plan to put an end to this epidemic by educating veterans, first responders, leadership, families, and the public about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/Injury (PTSD/I) and erasing the stigma attached to it,” said a spokesperson.
Funds raised will be used to accomplish this goal and help heroes in need of financial assistance by supplementing the cost of various effective resources that are not covered by the VA or many health insurance carriers.
The NASCAR Day Giveathon will occur from May 13, 3 p.m., to May 14, 6 p.m.
The NASCAR Foundation will match up to $10,000 for every minimum donation of $25 received each hour.
