FWC Investigating Port Canaveral Boat Crash That Sent Seven to Hospitals

At least seven people were injured Sunday evening when a recreational boat crashed into rocks across from Jetty Park, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on the north side of Port Canaveral, prompting a water rescue response from Canaveral Fire Rescue, Brevard County Fire Rescue, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA — At least seven people were injured Sunday evening when a recreational boat crashed into rocks across from Jetty Park, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on the north side of Port Canaveral, prompting a water rescue response from Canaveral Fire Rescue, Brevard County Fire Rescue, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Four of the injured were classified as Trauma Alerts, and at least one victim was airlifted from the scene.

All seven people on board have been accounted for, Brevard deputies say.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is leading the investigation into the crash, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

The cause of the crash remains unknown as of Monday morning, and some of the injured were transported to Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center.
