BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — The Brevard Veterans Memorial Center Library will present a special installment of its ongoing Discussion Series titled “Salute to the First American Military Service: 250 Years of the U.S. Army.”
The event will be held on Monday, May 27, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 400 S. Sykes Creek Pkwy, Merritt Island, and will feature Army veteran Donn Weaver as the guest speaker.
This informative session offers an inside look at the evolution and history of the United States Army, America’s first and largest military service branch.
Weaver, who began teaching Basic Training troops about the Army’s history 50 years ago, will draw upon decades of personal experience and continued scholarship to reflect on the Army’s 250-year journey.
Although the U.S. Army’s official birthday is in June, the VMC Library is giving attendees an early opportunity to celebrate. As part of the evening, guests will be invited to a ceremonial cake cutting and enjoy a specially decorated U.S. Army 250th Anniversary cake.
This event is open to the public and is part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to educate and engage the community on military history and service. Early attendance is encouraged, as seating is limited and interest in the U.S. Army’s milestone anniversary is expected to draw a strong crowd.
