BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — Eastern Florida State College baseball coach Steven Brown has stepped down effective immediately, and his associate head coach, Mitchell Gallagher, will take over as the interim head coach.
Brown spent four seasons as the head coach of the Titans and reached 100 wins this season as the Titans finished 29-22 and made the postseason for the first time in eight seasons.
Gallagher joined the Titans as Brown’s first hire back in 2021 and has been his lead assistant for the past four seasons.
Gallagher, who has coached in the Northwoods League for the past couple of summers, began his coaching career as the infield coach at Palomar College, where his defense ranked fourth in the state.
He helped 25 players transfer to four-year colleges, with 12 going to Division I schools. After Palomar, he went to Houston Baptist as a graduate assistant and received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
Gallagher played at Pepperdine University as well as Xavier, where he was named to the Big East All-tournament team and was a two-time all-academic team member.
