BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The Cocoa Police Department extended its heartfelt condolences this week to the K-9 Unit of the 45th Security Forces Squadron at Patrick Space Force Base, following the loss of one of their own, Military Working Dog Sam.

Members of CPD’s K-9 Unit were in attendance at a memorial service held at the base’s kennels, paying tribute to Sam’s life and dedicated service.

Known for his commitment and skill, MWD Sam was remembered as one of the finest military working dogs in the field.

The 45th Security Forces Squadron has long been a respected partner in the local law enforcement community.

Cocoa Police officials emphasized their ongoing support for the Squadron during this difficult time and their deep appreciation for the contributions made by Sam and the entire K-9 team.

“Rest easy, Sam — you will not be forgotten,” the department shared in a public statement, honoring the bond between handler and partner that defines the legacy of working dogs like Sam.
