Under his leadership, Fulton Management has grown to manage nearly 800 clients across various sectors, including television, film, music, sports, and digital platforms. In this interview, Fulton shares insights into his professional journey, personal values, and the principles that guide his leadership.

Early Beginnings and Career Development

Could you share what initially led you to pursue a career in accounting and business management?

I first got interested in accounting during a high school class where we covered the basics of debits and credits. It made sense to me, and I found it interesting and straightforward. Although I didn’t know I would end up in Business Management back then, it was my introduction to the field. A defining moment in shaping my career was when I left the Big Eight to work for a Business Management firm. Helping a young rock star buy his first car and seeing the joy it brought him solidified my decision. It was rewarding and showed me that Business Management was the right fit for me.

What personal and professional values are central to how you conduct business and live your life?

Fairness is at the heart of my values, both personally and professionally. I have a strong internal compass that drives me to ensure people are treated equally and justly, especially those who are often overlooked. This links to my values of honesty and integrity; I believe fairness can’t exist without truthfulness and accountability. These values are evident in the way I lead, build relationships, and make decisions. Whether it’s a business deal or advocating for someone, I strive to be transparent, ethical, and fair.

Achievements and Lessons Learned

What achievements are you most proud of in your personal and professional life?

Personally, nothing compares to the pride I feel in being a husband and father. Raising three incredible sons and seeing them grow into grounded and successful individuals is the most meaningful achievement of my life. Professionally, I’m proud of building a successful business management firm from the ground up. It’s not just about financial success; it’s about serving and protecting our clients’ interests. The firm has become something respected and lasting, and creating a ‘second family’ in my office is something I’m very proud of.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to trust his instincts fully and unapologetically. My gut has always led me in the right direction, and when I’ve doubted myself, it often led to choices I later questioned. Trusting myself earlier could have saved time and energy. However, learning to stand firm in my instincts was part of my growth process. Today, I lead with confidence and clarity, grounded in those lessons.

Defining Success and Inspiration

How do you define success?

Success isn’t just about financial achievement; it’s about the quality of your relationships and the life you build. Real success involves creating something meaningful, being there for loved ones, and living with integrity. If I can look back and know I’ve built a strong family, stayed true to my values, helped others succeed, and made a positive impact, that would be true success. While wealth provides freedom, it’s the connection, purpose, and peace of mind that make it valuable.

Who has been your greatest inspiration as a business leader?

The greatest inspiration in my life as a business leader has been my mother. After my parents divorced, she supported three children on her own, working graveyard shifts and overcoming numerous challenges. Her perseverance and willingness to sacrifice for something bigger than herself taught me the value of hard work and humility. These lessons form the foundation of how I lead today—with grit, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Eric Fulton’s commitment to integrity and community engagement has made a lasting impact on his clients and the industry. His approach to business management reflects a deep understanding of the importance of values in building sustainable careers and meaningful lives.

Expertise and Achievements in Business Management

What do you consider to be your most significant professional achievement?

Building Fulton Management from the ground up is my most significant professional achievement. It has been a journey marked by dedication and a strong commitment to integrity. Creating a firm that not only thrives financially but also genuinely serves and protects the interests of our clients has been deeply fulfilling. Over the years, I’ve seen the business grow into a respected entity, which has been incredibly rewarding. Beyond success in numbers, it’s the creation of a ‘second family’ within the firm that makes me proud.

How has your firm managed to stand out in the competitive field of business management?

Our approach at Fulton Management is what sets us apart. We adopted an hourly billing model instead of charging a percentage of clients’ gross earnings. This model keeps us accountable and fair. It ensures that successful clients don’t subsidize those still building their careers. Our clients respect this transparency, which fosters trust and long-term relationships. It’s about maintaining fairness, a core value that influences every business decision we make.

Vision for the Future

As you look towards the future, what plans do you have for Fulton Management and your career?

Once I’m ready for retirement, I’ll be excited to focus more on service-oriented work, particularly in youth development, education, and economic empowerment. I have been fortunate in my career, and I view that next chapter as an opportunity to use my experience and resources to make a lasting impact. At Fulton Management, we will continue to emphasize philanthropy and community engagement, ensuring these values are central to our operations.

What do you hope to achieve personally as you transition into this new phase of your life?

Personally, I aim to deepen my involvement in community service and mentoring. I want to spend more time giving back, particularly in areas that can empower the next generation. It’s a chance to invest in the future and support initiatives that can create meaningful change. I also look forward to spending more time with family, which has always been a priority for me.

Community Impact and Philanthropy

Can you share some examples of how you’ve been involved in community service?

I have always prioritized giving back, both personally and through Fulton Management. I volunteered with Agoura Pony Baseball for seven years, serving as board president for five of those years. We focused on youth development and community engagement, which was incredibly rewarding. At Fulton Management, we encourage charitable activities through initiatives like Charity Vest, which matches employee donations to causes they care about. We also support local efforts such as “Bagged Lunches for the Homeless,” directly impacting vulnerable populations.

What motivates you to remain so actively involved in philanthropy?

Giving back is not just a corporate checkbox; it reflects the values I believe in both personally and professionally. It’s about using the tools and opportunities I have to make a difference. This motivation is deeply rooted in my belief in fairness and justice, which have been guiding principles throughout my life and career. The ability to affect positive change in the lives of others is profoundly fulfilling.
