Military Officers Association Honors Military Academy, College ROTC Scholarship Bound High School Seniors

BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA — The Military Officers Association of America Cape Canaveral Chapter held its annual luncheon on May 20, honoring eight Brevard County High School seniors who received an Appointment to a U.S. Service Academy, a Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarship, or acceptance to a private Military Academy.
These exceptional Brevard students from various schools, who were proud of their achievements and excited about the adventures ahead, included:
● Cadet Capt. Levi Anderson from Astronaut High School, who will be attending Florida Institute of Technology
● Ms. Victoria Nelson from Holy Trinity Academy, who will be attending the U.S. Naval Academy
● Cadet Lt. Col. Savion Kirby from Melbourne High School, who will be attending the U.S. Air Force Academy
● Cadet Alex Gregoire from Merritt Island High School, who will be attending Auburn University, AL
● Cadet Lt. Col. Gideon Pike from Satellite High School, who will be attending The Citadel Military College, SC
● Cadet Lt. Col. Connor Hoffman from Viera High School, who will be attending the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
● Cadet Major Joey Shine from Viera High School, who will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
● Cadet Lt. Zachary Perez from Viera High School, who will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Also in attendance were Dr. Mark Rendell, Superintendent of Brevard Public Schools, and five School Board Members, including Megan Wright from District 1, Gene Trent from District 2, John Thomas from District 3, Matthew Susin from District 4, and Katye Campbell from District 5.
In addition, MOAACC was honored to have exceptional school representation from Brevard high school principals, including Courtney Lundy of Satellite High School, Debora Lubbers of Merritt Island High School, Cyndi Buist of Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, and Debra Abell, the Vice Principal of Astronaut High School.
They were also joined by high school ROTC Instructors who mentored these students for one or more years, providing them with an honorable reflection of our U.S. military programs.
These included Lt. Col. Robert Irick of Cocoa Beach High School, Lt. Col. Robin Athey of Melbourne High School, Maj. Lonnie Spangler of Merritt Island High School, Lt. Col. Todd Balog of Viera High School, and Assistant Instructor CSM Sean Branham of Astronaut High School.
