FHP: 77-year-old bicyclist died after being struck by car DRIVEN BY 90-YEAR-OLD

A fatal collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle occurred Thursday morning at the intersection of North Wickham Road and Stadium Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson confirmed that the bicyclist, a 77-year-old, died after being struck by a car driven by a 90-year-old motorist. 

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A fatal collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle occurred Thursday morning at the intersection of North Wickham Road and Stadium Parkway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson confirmed that the bicyclist, a 77-year-old, died after being struck by a car driven by a 90-year-old motorist.

The crash prompted a temporary closure of the intersection as investigators examined the scene.

The driver reported to troopers that they were proceeding through the intersection on a green light when the bicyclist crossed into their path.

The driver was not injured in the incident.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers is continuing its investigation and will verify whether the driver indeed had a green light at the time of the crash.
