BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Amazon is set to grow its presence in Brevard County after securing roughly 90 acres of land in West Melbourne, paving the way for a future operations hub in Central Florida.

The tech and e-commerce leader finalized the $59 million purchase on July 28, acquiring eight parcels near the intersection of Interstate 95 and U.S. Highway 192 from entities connected to New York-based Acquest Development.

While company officials confirmed plans for a new facility on the property, they noted that the project remains in the early planning phase and specific details have not yet been disclosed.

Amazon already employs nearly 6,900 people throughout Central Florida, with approximately 1,800 workers in Brevard, Volusia, and Flagler counties. In 2022, the company opened a 141,000-square-foot last-mile delivery station on Samo Road in West Melbourne.

The latest acquisition follows another large-scale investment nearby—a $200 million, 630,000-square-foot robotics fulfillment center in Daytona Beach.

That site, expected to launch by early fall, will use advanced automation to pick, pack, and ship customer orders. Amazon spokesperson Greg Rios has said these robotics centers not only improve safety and efficiency but also allow employees to develop new technical skills.

Financially, the company continues to post strong results. In the second quarter, net sales climbed 13% from the previous year to $167.7 billion. Third-quarter sales are projected to land between $174 billion and $179.5 billion, representing a 10–13% increase over the same period in 2024.

CEO Andy Jassy attributed much of Amazon’s momentum to its growing integration of artificial intelligence, which now powers features across Alexa+, online shopping tools, and warehouse logistics, including workflow optimization for over a million robots and streamlined software development.

Amazon is also advancing in the aerospace sector. In the second quarter, it completed two successful launches for Project Kuiper, the company’s satellite internet venture. The project’s satellite processing facility operates out of Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island.
