Eastern Florida State College Women’s Volleyball Team Goes 2-0 Friday at Salt Lake Tournament

Now 6-3 on the season, will host EFSC Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball team picked up a pair of straight set victories Friday at the Crystal ‘Inn’vitational at Salt Lake Community College.

The Titans defeated Western Wyoming Community College 25-15, 25-17 and 25-12, then came back in the afternoon to beat Western Nebraska Community College 25-19, 25-18, 25-21 in Utah.

Eastern Florida State College jumped out to a 7-1 lead and then then rattled off five straight points on their way to a 25-15 win in the first set.

The Titans jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the second set but Western Wyoming rallied back to cut things to one point. Up 14-11 the Titans scored six straight to take control of the set and Mikayla Lamb scored an ace to finish the second set.

Eight straight points highlighted by a couple of aces by Ada Bayraktar gave the Titans a 16-4 lead in the third set. They continued to roll and score the 25-12 win.

In the final game of the tournament for the Titans in Utah, Western Nebraska jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first set, but down 11-4, the Titans went on a 7-0 run and tied the match 13-13 on a Leyre Arroyo Sanchez kill.

The match was tied 19-19 when Shamiah Richardson served five straight points to end the first set.

In the second set, the Titans opened up a seven-point lead on back-to-back Jordyn Cox kills. Arroyo Sanchez had a couple of big kills, and the lead was 22-13. From there the Titans posted the 25-18 victory and went up 2-0.

The third set saw both sides making little runs, and the match was tied six times with the Titans going on a key four-point run to take a 22-18 lead. They finished the match with four straight points to go 2-2 in the tournament.

Eastern Florida State College is now 6-3 on the season and will be hosting the EFSC Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus. Admission will be $13 per day or $23 for the tournament. You can purchase tickets online HERE.
