BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Titusville Police Department responded to an incident near the 1400 block of North Washington Avenue on September 23 after reports of gunfire in the area.

The situation unfolded near Temple Christian School, prompting the school resource officer to place the campus on lockdown immediately.

Police confirmed that no students or staff were harmed and emphasized that the incident took place outside the school property, along Washington Avenue.

According to investigators, the gunfire stemmed from a separate incident in Mims that continued into Titusville’s jurisdiction.

The Titusville Police Department is working in coordination with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, which is leading the investigation. Authorities clarified that the individuals involved had no connection to Temple Christian School.

Officials commended the swift actions of the school resource officer for ensuring the safety of students and staff during the brief lockdown.
