A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for residents in the Cronin Avenue area of Melbourne following a planned water main repair. The City of Melbourne has temporarily shut off water service to complete the necessary work and is advising customers to take safety measures once service is restored.

The notice applies to the following addresses: Cronin Avenue from 703 through 836, Clark Avenue from 856 through 868, Laden Road from 2116 through 2272, and McDermont Avenue from 829 through 853.

After water service returns, residents are instructed to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes. A rolling boil of at least one minute is considered sufficient to ensure safety. Bottled water may be used as an alternative during this period.

City officials state that the precaution will remain in place until bacteriological testing confirms that the water supply is safe. Once testing is complete and results are satisfactory, affected customers will receive official notification that the advisory has been lifted.

The City of Melbourne Public Works and Utilities Administration encourages residents with questions to call the office at 321-608-5000. For urgent concerns outside regular hours, the after-hours emergency number 321-255-4622 is available.

Authorities appreciate the community’s cooperation as they work to maintain a safe and reliable water system.
