Titans play Cowley Tuesday for spot in the semis

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s soccer team shut out Murray State College 3-0 Monday afternoon at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Daytona Beach.
The Titans, who are the No. 6 seed in the tournament, scored all three goals in the first 34 minutes of the contest.
Eastern Florida State College will play No. 3 seed Cowley County Community College on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. for a spot in the national semifinals.
Joao Victor Loureiro got the Titans started in the 19th minute of the contest, when he took a ball out front and made a move, then hit a nice ball into the corner of the net.
Nine minutes later, a penalty was called in the box against Stephen Gilbert. Liam Kuemmritz stepped up and made it 2-0.
With 10:45 left in the first half, Loureiro beat the defender down the line and hit a cross to Henry Crosthwaite, who buried it for a 3-0 lead.
From there, the defense kept Murray State at bay as the Aggies had just five shots in the game.
Eastern Florida State College is now 12-3-1 on the season. Tuesday’s game is one of four games to decide who will be in the semifinals on Thursday.
Admission is $20 per day at Daytona State College, and fans can watch the game live on the NJCAA Network for $12.
