Anderson will remain on probation as her appeal moves forward

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Brevard County judge has refused to end the probation of former Teddy Roosevelt Elementary School teacher Karly Anderson, who was convicted earlier this year in connection with a chaotic teen house party at her principal’s home.
Anderson, who was found guilty in May of resisting an officer and disorderly intoxication, had asked the court to terminate her one-year probation early.
Her attorney argued that Anderson had fully complied with the conditions imposed by Judge Kim Musselman and had demonstrated she no longer needed supervision.
The request went before Judge Ben Garagozlo, who previously delayed the hearing while the court reviewed whether Anderson should be reimbursed for a $500 payment ordered for the Children’s Advocacy Center.
Garagozlo denied the motion after reviewing the case.
Anderson’s attorney said that although the house party involved minors, Anderson’s criminal charges were unrelated to any direct misconduct toward students.
The incident occurred at the Cocoa Beach home owned by then-principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, where authorities say about 100 teenagers had gathered.
At the time, Cocoa Beach Police Detective Sergeant Taylor Payne said officers responded to a residence about a house party, where they encountered over 100 juveniles in matching T-shirts, many of whom were consuming alcohol that was later learned to be available in coolers at the residence.
Hill-Brodigan, who resigned following the investigation, is still awaiting trial.
For now, Anderson will remain on probation as her appeal moves forward.
