BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Motorists traveling through Melbourne are being urged to use alternate routes as police respond to a roadway hazard on U.S. 1.

According to the Melbourne Police Department, the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 just south of Parkway Drive are partially closed due to a large amount of spilled cement on the roadway.

As a result, traffic in the area has been reduced to a single lane.

Officers are on scene assisting with traffic control while crews work to address the spill and restore normal travel conditions.

Drivers should expect extended delays and are strongly encouraged to avoid the area if possible.

No injuries have been reported, and it is unclear how long cleanup efforts will take.

Motorists are advised to remain patient, follow posted signage, and consider alternate routes until the roadway is fully reopened.
