A 22-year-old man from Cocoa was killed late Thursday night after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a guardrail along State Road 417 in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the fatal crash occurred at approximately 11:07 p.m. as the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on SR-417 and approaching the ramp to eastbound State Road 528.

Preliminary findings indicate the rider failed to negotiate a curve, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle. The bike left the travel lane and struck a guardrail, resulting in severe injuries.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the man to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name pending next-of-kin notification.
