Eastern Florida State College Men’s Golf Wins Bantams Invitational in South Carolina

Titans shot a tournament best 296 in the final round

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team won the Bantams Invitational, finishing strong to pick up their first team win of the spring.
The Titans shot a tournament best 296 in the final round on Tuesday morning at the Lakeside Country Club in Laurens, South Carolina.
Freshman Jamie Smith shot a 3-under 69 in the final round and finished the tournament 2-under, capturing his first individual win of the spring and second of the year. The Sydney, Australia native had seven birdies and four bogeys in the round.

“Good job by the team in trying conditions. Good playing by Jamie Smith picking up win number two and a good comeback round by Trey,” said Eastern Florida State College men’s golf coach Jamie Howell.
Sean Jacoby finished tied for sixth place after shooting a 5-over 77 in the final round, finishing 10-over for the tournament. Teammate Trey Farnsworth was tied for eighth, rebounding from a rough first round to shoot a 2-over 74.
Horace Pennix also shot a 77 on Tuesday and finished in 10th place at 13-over for the tournament.
Nolan Hyatt shot a 4-over 76 to tie for 20th overall. Hyatt had four bogeys and 14 pars in the round.
The men’s golf team will be back in action on March 9-10 at the Glenlakes Spring Invitational.
