BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Port Canaveral is once again stepping up as a sponsor of Battle of the Causeways, an annual community cleanup event organized by Keep Brevard Beautiful.

The event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with volunteers gathering at Kelly Park East in Merritt Island.

Battle of the Causeways brings together residents, businesses, and community groups with a shared goal of keeping Brevard County’s roadways clean and environmentally safe.

Volunteers will form teams and fan out along the east and west sections of State Road 528, collecting litter and debris from the causeways.

Adding a friendly competitive twist, teams will compete to see who can collect the most litter during the event. The team with the highest total will take home a prize, making the cleanup both impactful and fun.

Organizers encourage participants of all ages to get involved, noting that events like Battle of the Causeways play a vital role in protecting local waterways, wildlife, and natural habitats while building community pride.

Those interested in volunteering can register online in advance.
